In Ukraine, early cereals and pulses were harvested from 9639 thousand ha (100%) as of August 21. Farmers gathered 37224 KMT with an average yield of 3.86 MT/ha against 37948 KMT with an average yield of 3.94 MT/ha as of August 22, 2016.
These included 26562 KMT of wheat harvested from 6359 thousand ha (100%) with an average yield of 4.18 MT/ha against 6162 thousand ha and 4.28 MT/ha last year. Barley was harvested from 2510 thousand ha (100%) against 2876 thousand ha at the same time in 2016. Its crop amounted to 8610 KMT with an average yield of 3.43 MT/ha (9770 KMT with a yield of 3.40 MT/ha last year).
The pea harvest is over in Ukraine. As of August 21, farmers got 1095 KMT of peas from 410 thousand ha with an average yield of 2.67 MT/ha. As of August 22, 2016, these figures equaled 763 KMT, 237 thousand ha and 3.22 MT/ha, respectively.
The harvest of buckwheat and millet has started in Ukraine. As of the reporting date, growers harvested 24 KMT of buckwheat from 23 thousand ha (12% of the plan) with an average yield of 1.06 MT/ha. At the same time last year, these figures equaled 42 KMT, 33 thousand ha and 1.27 MT/ha, respectively. As of August 21, millet was harvested from 11 thousand ha (19%) with a crop of 18 KMT and an average yield of 1.69 MT/ha. In 2016, these indicators were at 37 thousand ha, 66 KMT and 1.81 MT/ha, respectively. (UkrAgroConsult/Business World Magazine)
