The total loss of Ukrainian solvent banks was estimated at UAH 223 million in January-July, down 41.5-fold YoY, according to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
Ukraine’s solvent banks received UAH 1.43 billion in profit over the period under review.
According to the NBU, incomes of banks for January-July amounted to UAH 101.624 billion, which is almost the same YoY, while expenses decreased by UAH 9.027 billion or by 8.1%, to UAH 101.846 billion.
The NBU preliminarily estimates that Ukraine’s banking system hit a new record in 2016, having posted UAH 159 billion in losses. The total losses in the banking sector, including those of insolvent banks, were UAH 160.143 billion. (UNIAN/Business World Magazine)
