Claims filed by Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) to court do not concern the operation of Ireland’s low cost airline Ryanair in Ukraine or any obstacles to their operations, but they concern the discriminative conditions towards other airlines, UIA President Yuriy Miroshnykov declared at a press conference in Kyiv.
Managing partner of Ecovis Bondar and Bondar law firm Oleh Bondar said that two claims were filed to courts: one seeking to declare unlawful the memorandum signed by the Infrastructure Ministry and Ryanair and another to declare unlawful the conditions for servicing at the Lviv airport. Defenders in the first claim are the ministry and Ryanair and in the second claim – the Lviv airport and Ryanair.
“We see violation of legislation in signing the memorandum with the ministry and a commercial company. This is surprising when a government official signs such agreements,” Miroshnykov said.
“This is a dangerous precedent and an attempt to interfere and press on economic entities. If this precedent is not assessed, and this can be done only by court, it would have negative consequences for he sector and the economy,” Miroshnykov said. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
