In Latvia, construction production volume in Q1 2017, when compared with the same period of last year, grew by 8.4%. This puts Latvia on the tenth place among EU member states, according to the latest data from Eurostat.
Increase in construction output larger than Latvia’s was noted in Cyprus (+36.7%), Hungary (+24.6%), Ireland (+21.2%), Estonia (+20.4%), Malta (+16.1%), Sweden (+11.7%), Slovenia (+10.1%), Finland (+9.1%) and Greece (+8.6%). In Lithuania, construction output in January-March period was 7.1% larger than last year.
Compared with the same period of 2016, construction output grew in 21 EU member states in Q1. Output levels in Lithuania and Malta remained on the level of Q4 2016. Decline was noted in five countries: Greece (-8.2%), Luxembourg (-5.6%), Belgium (-4.1%), Spain (-1.8%) and France (-0.7%). (BNN/Business World Magazine)
