The aquaculture safety project is funded by the government of Norway and is implemented in partnership with the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine and covers legislative support in fisheries, as well as access to international market, the press service of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) reported.
“The project implementation will contribute to the improvement of the legislative system, the development of food chains in the fishing industry and the access of Ukrainian fish producers to international markets,” the report says.
The FAO project will be in effect until April 2018. In addition, an awareness raising campaign for fisheries laboratories regarding their responsibilities under the new rules and training sessions for fishery inspectors on imports and certification requirements will be conducted.
