The Council of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) considers it sufficient to raise the minimum charter capital of banks to UAH 200 million, according to the council’s report posted on the central bank’s website.
“Today’s requirements to the size of the banks’ charter capital in the amount of UAH 200 million from July 11 and UAH 450 million from July 11, 2020 do not completely comply with the Directives of the EU and the Council of Europe and are much more stringent: according to Directives 2013/36/EU of the European Parliament and the Council of the EU dated June 26, 2013, the minimum initial capital of any credit institution should be at least EUR 5 million,” the report said.
As reported, the National Bank by the decision dated February 4, 2016 established that by January 11, 2017 the country’s banks should have increased charter capital to UAH 300 million. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
