Public joint-stock company Ukrzaliznytsia has proposed to business to arrange the new principles to form tariffs for cargo transportation for the period of three or five years, starting from 2019.
The press service of the company reported that the proposal was presented by company representatives on June 9 at a meeting in the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. Director of the Economic Development and Trade Ministry’s department and member of the supervisory board of Ukrzaliznytsia Olena Diachenko took part in the meeting.
Ukrzaliznytsia said that the proposed options were based on pegging of tariff indexation in medium term outlook with one of the standard indexes or the index basket reflecting the change of cost of goods, labor and services on the Ukrainian market.
Diachenko supported the initiative and pointed at large social burden on railways in the form of passenger transportation.
“All meeting participants agreed that the introduction of automatic indexation principles for three or five years would improve operation of the process participants, expand their opportunities in planning and increase investment attractiveness. The fair remark from business representatives: quality markers for service provided by Ukrzaliznytsia should be also applied,” reads the report. (Interfax-Ukraine/Business World Magazine)
