Construction work has commenced in Ventspils industrial territory on Talsu Street 200. Latvian National Fisheries Producers’ Organization plans to build a fish freezer facility there, as reported by Ventspils Freeport.
It is noted that the 7.3 ha territory on Talsu Street 200, which was used to house an animal farm during the Soviet era, remained idle and unused for years.
In February Ventspils Freeport Board started landscaping work in this territory – old, broken down buildings were demolished, rubble was transported from the territory to clear the way for the freezer facility. Work to clear the territory and make it more attractive to investors will continue, as noted by freeport’s representatives.
With funding from the European Union, it is planned to build an access road to the facility. It will cost EUR 480,000, with EUR 408,000 as co-funding from the EU. (BNN/Business World Magazine)
