As of May 10, Ukrainian agrarians planted spring grains and pulses throughout the areas of 5.936 million ha, or 82% of the forecast, a decrease of 356 thousand ha compared with the same date last year, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine declared.
In particular, the planted areas under early crops reached 2.3 million ha (98%), including spring wheat – 168 thousand ha (95% of the forecast), spring barley – 1.556 million ha (95%), oats – 197 thousand ha (95%). As of the reporting date, Ukraine already completed the planting campaign of peas, the areas of which reached 379 thousand ha (115%).
In addition, agrarians planted corn for grain throughout 3.525 million ha (78%), buckwheat – 34 thousand ha (24%), and millet – 20 thousand ha (25%).
Also, agrarians continued planting oilseed crops: sunflower seed areas reached 4.193 million ha (78%), and soybeans – 1.092 million ha (41%). (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
