Due to the problems with logistics of agricultural products, Ukraine will fail to export the harvested grain volumes, the founder and CEO at the Agri-industrial holding Astarta Viktor Ivanchyk declared.
Thousands of rail cars were taken out of service, the number of motor transport reduced, because many vehicles became disabled, and there is no upgrade of the fleet. Also, the government decided to reduce the axle weight limit. The current situation is close to a collapse, Ivanchyk said.
According to him, Astarta has not completed the harvesting campaign of corn yet: agrarians still have to harvest the grain throughout nearly 2 thousand ha.
Astarta still failed to move sugar beet from fields, due to the deficit of vehicles and other transport. The company cannot provide contracts for the sale of grains and oilseeds, due to a serious shortage of rail cars, the CEO said.
According to him, the company tried to get rail cars from neighboring countries – Lithuania, Belarus, Poland, Moldova, but PJSC Ukrainian Railways had negative reaction for such actions. However, the company managed to get 40 rail cars. To date, rail cars continue coming from neighboring countries. Astarta needs several hundreds of rail cars, but the company does not plan to purchase its own fleet of grain rail cars. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
