The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine estimated the general grain harvest in the country in 2016 at the level of 64.2 million tons with the average yield of 4.48 ton/ha, up by 4 million tons YoY, the press-service of the ministry declared.
In particular, corn will form the major growing trends to the indicator, and in the current year the production volumes will increase by 2.8 million tons – to 26.1 million tons, barley – by 1.2 million tons, to 9.5 million tons.
At the same time, the ministry forecasts reduction of the wheat harvest by 435 thousand tons, to 26.1 million tons.
The harvest of rye will increase by 4 thousand tons – to 395 thousand tons, buckwheat – by 55.2 thousand tons, to 183.3 thousand tons, and rice – by 6.4 thousand tons, to 68.9 thousand tons.
As for oilseed crops, the ministry expects the growth of sunflower seed harvest to reach 1.7 million tons – to 12.9 million tons, and soybeans – 219 thousand tons, to 4.1 million tons.
At the same time, rapeseed harvest will total 1.2 million tons, down by 581 thousand tons YoY. (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
