According to scientists of the Institute of Agrarian Economics, in 2016 the general production of agricultural goods will increase by 3.7% YoY and total 248.2 billion UAH, the Director of the National Scientific Center “Institute of Agrarian Economics” Yuri Lupenko declared.
In particular, the production volumes of plant growing commodities will increase by 6.1% to 178.7 billion UAH. Due to the growth of yield indices by 9.1%, the production of grains and pulses crops will reach 64.2 million tons (up by 6.9%), including 26.7 million tons of wheat (up by 0.7%), and 9.7 million tons of barley (up by 17.3%). In addition, corn production is expected at 25.4 million tons (up by 8.8%), and buckwheat – 173 thousand tons (up by 31.9%).
For the first time, since annexation of the Crimea (since March 2014) the general production of rice will exceed the results of 2013 – up by 8.4%, and total 69.5 thousand tons (up by 11.2% YoY). Also, the production of peas will almost double – to 773.5 thousand tons (up by 95.5%), and millet – 185.1 thousand tons (up by 13.2%). (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
