State enterprise Ukrenergo expects the increase in electricity consumption during the 2016/2017 heating season by 3-4% in comparison with the past season, company acting director Vsevolod Kovalchuk has said.
“We foresee 3-4% more than last season. Although the overall volume of the planned power supply for next year is 7 billion kilowatt-hours less than was planned for 2016”, he said.
According to him, the reduction in power transmission volumes is primarily due to the decline in industrial production in the country rather than energy savings in private households.
“The expected volume of power transmission for 2016 is below the plan as the decline in industrial production is continuing. At least this is due to energy efficiency activities, which were held relatively rarely. We do not see mass energy savings in private households as it is observed with gas”, he added.
Kovalchuk noted that despite the reduction in transmission volumes Ukrenergo plans to achieve the figures of income and profit stipulated in the company’s financial plant approved by the Cabinet of Ministers at the level of 7.6 billion and 3.9 UAH billion, respectively.
