Belarus’ Industry Ministry and China’s Weichai Power Co. Ltd have signed a memorandum, which says that the parties plan to set up a joint venture to produce up to 20,000 diesel engines a year.
The project is supposed to have two stages, Belarus’ Industry Minister Vitaly Vovk reported.
In 2016-2018 the parties will set up a commercial company with Chinese investments and build an assembly plant with a capacity to produce up to 10,000 diesel engines a year.
In 2019-2020 the assembly plant is supposed to double its production capacity and increase the share of local components to 50%.
They plan to build the diesel engine factory at the Great Stone Industrial Park (Smolevichi district, Minsk region). (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
