Ukrzaliznytsia in 2016 plans to repair 100 passenger cars and next year – 200 cars, making them modern with vacuum water closets, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said.
“The standards will be changed. We will stop using feather pillows and blankets with dust. The European service will be introduced. It will meet hygiene standards. We will remove hangings. Only roller blinds will be on windows. By December all tickets, names of stations, announcements and information on the indicator panel will only be in Ukrainian and English. Synchronously we are working on de-communization of the names of stations”, he said.
Omelyan also said that next week the discussion of wi-fi on trains and the introduction of the electronic ticket for suburban trains would start.
The minister said that this week a meeting with public activists would be held.
“Ukrzaliznytsia would finally have an efficient feedback mechanism regarding the conveniences of train timetables, comfort of trains, while taxpayers and passengers would have a chance to influence this”, he said. (Interfax/Business World Magazine)
