Ukraine has a high potential for development of its agricultural sector and increasing the general grain harvest by 8-9 million tons, the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Kutovyi declared.
To date, Vinnytsa, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkassy and Kiev regions are the leaders in grain yield indices, while the average yield in the country totals 3.9 ton/ha. If Ukraine increases the average yield by nearly 20%, the general grain harvest will grow by 8-9 million tons, the minister said.
In the current year the general grain harvest in Ukraine will reach 63.5 million tons. (The Financial/Business World Magazine)
