As of August 29, Ukrainian agrarians harvested 38.266 million tons of grains and pulses throughout the areas of 9.793 million ha, or 68% of the plan. The average yield totaled 3.91 ton/ha, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine reported. At the same time, on the same date last year the production volumes reached 37.106 million tons.
In particular, agrarians started harvesting corn. As of the reporting date, Ukraine harvested 13 thousand tons of the grain throughout 4 thousand ha. The average yield reached 3.59 ton/ha.
Ukraine harvested 74 thousand tons of buckwheat throughout 56 thousand ha (38%). The average yield totaled 1.32 ton/ha. Agrarians harvested millet throughout 53 thousand ha (51%). The production volumes totaled 96 thousand tons, with the yield of 1.83 ton/ha.
Agricultural enterprises of Ukraine harvested 114 thousand tons of sunflower seed throughout 62 thousand ha, with the average yield of 1.83 ton/ha. The forecast of sunflower areas total 5.9 million ha.
Ukraine started harvesting soybeans. Six regions (Vinnytsia, Poltava, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi) harvested 10 thousand tons of the oilseed throughout the areas of 5 thousand ha, with the average yield of 2.1 ton/ha.
Also, agrarians planted winter rapeseed throughout 456 thousand ha, or 63% of the planned areas (in 2015 – 258 thousand ha).
Ukrainian agrarians prepared the soil for winter grains harvesting throughout 6.214 million ha (77%). (APK-Inform/Business World Magazine)
