Belarus has been working on a new edition of the bill “On state purchases of goods, works and services” dated July 12, 2013, Irina Tretyakova of the Trade Ministry announced.
The new edition of the law is supposed to make allowance for all tricky aspects of procedures relating to state purchase contracts, the official said.
According to her, Belarus has a fairly liberal regulatory framework for state purchases. Small-sized and large, state-run and privately owned companies are free to apply for state purchase contracts without restrictions, provided they are good-faith participants, the expert said.
Price is not the key factor for state purchase contracts, as customers often expect applicants to meet certain qualification requirements, said Tretyakova. (Prime-TASS/Business World Magazine)
