Iran believes it is necessary to expand the energy cooperation with Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, said Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh.
Zanganeh made the remarks during a meeting with SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev in Baku on August 8.
During the meeting, Abdullayev pointed to the rapid and successful development of Azerbaijani-Iranian relations, which accelerated after Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev visited Iran in February.
SOCAR president expressed confidence that the official visit of Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani to Azerbaijan would become a new stage in the development of bilateral relations.
He noted that the relations between SOCAR and Iran’s oil and gas companies have become even more intensive recently.
Zanganeh, for his part, said Iran attached great importance to expansion of relations with neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the issues of mutual interest and the prospects for cooperation. (Trend/Business World Magazine)
