The Russian Satellite Communications Company, a federal satellite operator, has failed to insure all communications space apparatuses of the Express series, as the market’s health is close to critical, Alexander Podchufarov, vice president of insurance company Ingosstrakh, said.
“The state of the insurance market is close to critical; only the Russian space industry had $662 million in losses. Only Express AM33, Express AM22, Express AM44, Express AT-1 and AT-2, as well as Express AMU-1 are insured 100%, and satellites Express AM5, Express AM6 and Express AM8 are insured by only 70%”, Podchufarov said.
The Russian Satellite Communications Company’s satellite group counts 13 space apparatuses. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
