Washington has de-facto suspended cooperation with Moscow on an agreement on nuclear power cooperation after Crimea was annexed in 2014 and Moscow only formalized the fact on Wednesday, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
On Wednesday, Moscow suspended cooperation with US in scientific research and nuclear power. The Foreign Ministry said that Moscow would still fulfill its obligations under an agreement signed between state nuclear power corporation Rosatom and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) fully.
“The Foreign Ministry has already given its explanations. The thing here is that the U.S. has de-facto stopped implementation of the contract, so we just in fact formalized the situation, which was created by our American colleagues, on our side”, he said. “We are also sorry that we had to do that. But the document was not working due to the U.S. decision, so there is nothing new here”. (Prime/Business World Magazine)
