Lithuania has risen by six spots, to the 22nd position among 67 countries in this year’s global digital competitiveness ranking, the Innovation Agency reports.
In the 2024 ranking by the Switzerland-based International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lithuania is the highest-ranking Baltic country, overtaking Estonia, which has dropped from the 18th to the 24th place. Latvia climbed two spots to rank 38th.
“Lithuania’s digitalisation is progressing at a rapid pace, and we have seen significant improvements in the country’s ranking across all categories over the past year,” Kotryna Tamoseviciene, head of the Research and Analysis Division at the Innovation Agency, said in a press release.
“The global community is noticing Lithuania’s readiness for future challenges, business resilience and adaptability,” she added.
Tamoseviciene noted that Lithuania’s position improved the most, to number 17, in future readiness, a category where Estonia’s performance worsened last year. Lithuania also scored better than Estonia in business agility and tolerance for business risk.
Lithuania ranks 10th in government cybersecurity capacity, 21st for the quality of digital public services, 23rd in knowledge and 28th in technology.
The 2024 ranking is topped by Singapore, followed by Switzerland and Denmark. (LRT)
