Traffic on Culma – Ceadar-Lunga railway section in the south of the country, where an accident occurred on August 6, has been resumed, Moldova Railway company (CFM) reports.
Testing of the rehabilitated section took place on August 7. Also that day, on this section, the first freight train ran according to the schedule. Traffic is open for train sets that will carry cargo, including from and to Reni port, Ukraine.
About 50 CFM employees, who worked in two shifts, were involved in the rehabilitation of the damaged railway section. They installed new concrete rails and sleepers on a 125-meter section of the railway, in a limited time, and checked the compliance of the railway lines with the rules of operation and safety of movement.
According to the CFM, the causes and damages of the incident will be determined later, after the completion of the work of the investigation commissions and experts.
In the evening of August 5, on Culma – Ceadar-Lunga railway sector, a railway accident occurred as a result of which six wagons loaded with grain broke loose and derailed. The train with 61 freight wagons was moving from Basarabeasca station to Reni port, Ukraine. (Moldpres/Business World Magazine)
