In January-November the Freeport of Riga handled 31,116,900 tons of cargo, down by 6.7% YoY.
Coal transshipment fell by 5.8%, to 11.02 million tons, oil products – by 30.5%, to 5.23 million tons, wood pellets increased by 17.9%, to 578,000 tons, ore – by 32.5%, to 467,600 tons.
The port’s container throughput grew by 16.8%, to 409,800 TEUs.
Passenger turnover increased by 44.9%, to 769,102, including 85,923 cruise passengers (+22.3%).
Freeport of Riga lies on both banks of the River Daugava covering 6.3 hectares. The port’s berth length is 13,800 meters, and maximum draft at the berths is 12.2 meters. Up to 80% of the Freeport of Riga cargo turnover is made up of transit cargoes forwarded to or received from the CIS countries. In 2016, the port’s throughput totaled 37,070,300 tons of cargo.
