The implementation of the joint Ukrainian-Danish Strategic Sectoral Cooperation (SSC) project in the field of food and agriculture was discussed during the meeting of Deputy Minister Taras Vysotsky with the delegation of the Kingdom of Denmark.
The parties summed up the implementation of the SSC Work Plan, discussed the results of already implemented measures and identified cooperation priorities for the second half of 2026 and 2027.
“Cooperation with the Kingdom of Denmark is one of the most successful examples of practical support for reforms in the Ukrainian agrarian sector on the path to membership in the European Union. For us, the exchange of experience is especially valuable, which helps to implement European approaches in the areas of food safety, animal health, plant protection and state control. Our common task is not only to continue the implementation of existing projects, but also to form new areas of cooperation in accordance with the needs of Ukraine and the requirements of European legislation,” Taras Vysotsky emphasized.
The participants also noted the results of the cooperation launched after the signing of the intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and Denmark in 2023. A number of expert missions, study visits, webinars and consultations with the participation of Ukrainian and Danish specialists have already been held within the framework of the project. In particular, they covered the issues of state control, laboratory activities, veterinary medicine, food safety, animal health, seed production and phytosanitary measures.
After the main meeting, a meeting of the Coordination Working Group was held, during which the parties agreed in detail on the calendar of future events.
In particular, in the second half of 2026, expert missions are planned in three key areas:
– Food safety, including border control issues;
Animal health and welfare, with an emphasis on preparedness to respond to outbreaks of particularly dangerous diseases;
phytosanitary measures, plant certification and seed certification.
Particular attention during the planning was paid to the issues of harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU legislation, development of the official control system, improvement of interaction between control bodies and the customs service, as well as the implementation of modern European approaches to state supervision.
Following the meeting, the Ukrainian and Danish sides confirmed their readiness to update the SSC project document in accordance with new cooperation priorities and to continue joint work on reforming the food safety system and developing the agricultural sector of Ukraine in accordance with European Union standards.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection of Ukraine, Head of the Strategic Sectoral Cooperation (SSC) Ukraine Food Project Kamilla Brask Andersen, Head of the SSC Ukraine Food Project Anette Sorensen Haurum, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine Anne Maria Madsen, and Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Ukraine Poul Jakob Erikstrup.
