The summer 2026 tourist season on Bulgaria’s Black Sea coast has been officially launched in Sozopol, with Tourism Minister Ilin Dimitrov and the city’s mayor Tihomir Yanakiev taking part in a ceremonial opening held on the Central Beach.
Speaking during the event, Dimitrov said the season is expected to broadly match last year’s performance, stressing that Bulgaria continues to be positioned as a safe and stable travel destination. He expressed confidence that the sector would manage a solid summer period despite a slow start.
“Unfortunately, this year the season is slightly late, as you can see, but I hope we will be able to catch up,” Dimitrov noted, adding that some of the initial decline was linked to cancellations of flights operated by German tour companies.
According to the minister, the reduced presence of German tourists will be most noticeable at the beginning and end of the season, while the peak summer months are expected to remain relatively unaffected. He also underlined that the country remains attractive for international visitors despite short-term disruptions.
Local and tourism authorities indicated that preparations are aimed at ensuring continuity throughout the season, with expectations that demand will stabilize as the summer progresses. (Novinite)
