The Government is preparing comprehensive solutions to stabilize payments in the electricity market. The Cabinet of Ministers has instructed the relevant ministries, the NEURC, Ukrenergo, and Energoatom to develop appropriate mechanisms. Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced this.
“The first step is to launch a special mechanism for supplying electricity to district heating companies, water utilities, and state-owned mines. This will help stabilize payments and stop the accumulation of debt. The mechanism for distributing funds to district heating companies is also changing. A portion of payments must be automatically directed toward paying for electricity,” the Head of Government explained.
Separately, the Ministry of Defense is to propose solutions for repaying debts and settling current accounts of military units, especially in combat zones.
Additionally, as Yulia Svyrydenko reported, the Government has instructed the Ministry of Energy, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Economy, with the participation of the NEURC and NPC Ukrenergo, to work with international financial organizations to explore possible ways to attract resources for repaying debts in the electricity balancing market.
“Resolving the debt issue is critically important for getting through the future winter smoothly,” the Prime Minister emphasized. (Government portal)
