Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko held a meeting on road repairs with Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine Oleksii Kuleba, Minister of Defence Mykhailo Fedorov, and Minister of Finance Serhii Marchenko.
Work is ongoing across the country: 203 road crews-about 2,000 workers-are working every day. On May 1, major repairs on international highways were completed. 8.5 million square meters of repairs have already been completed; at least 10 million square meters are planned until June 1, with the potential to increase to 12 million square meters – this is about 45% of the annual plan.
“The pace of further work depends on funding. The Government has already allocated funds; additionally, the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, together with the Recovery Agency, is working to attract resources within the framework of the Unified Project Portfolio of Public Investments to accelerate the process. A separate priority is frontline regions, where repairs are already underway and being scaled up,” noted Yulia Svyrydenko.
The Prime Minister said that an approach to co-financing the repair of local roads in collaboration with communities and regional state administrations was also being coordinated. The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development shall prepare the necessary amendments for the Government following the discussions. (Government portal)
