The development of a strategic partnership between Ukraine and Romania, including expanded cooperation in industry and defense technologies, as well as support for the digitalization of SMEs, was discussed during a meeting between Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, and the Minister of Economy, Entrepreneurship, Digitalization, and Tourism of Romania Ambrozie-Irineu Darau.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister Oleksandr Tsybort and, on the Romanian side, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Ukraine Alexandru Victor Micula.
“Ukraine and Romania are strengthening their partnership, as we agreed in the Joint Declaration signed by the Presidents of Ukraine and Romania, Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Nicusor Dan, on March 12, in Bucharest. To work more effectively, we are resuming the work of the joint intergovernmental commission. We also want to share our experience in digitalization and support for small and medium-sized businesses with Romania,” noted Oleksii Sobolev.
Thus, the Ukrainian side shared its experience in supporting digital services for business, such as eCheck, Pulse, and Obrii. The parties discussed the possibility of supporting the Obrii platform as a targeted tool for restoring the labor market in regions affected by the war.
They also invited their Romanian partners to join the SME Resilience Alliance as a platform for coordinating international support for small and medium-sized businesses, particularly in the areas of digitalization, training, and retraining for entrepreneurs.
Other areas of strategic partnership between the two countries include transportation and logistics, the agricultural sector, border infrastructure, energy, and cooperation in the defense and industrial sectors. The Government is interested in attracting Romanian business and capital to implement important investment projects.
In addition, Romania has been invited to participate in URC 2026 (June 25-26, Gdansk), where business and investment issues will be a central focus of the conference. A business fair and B2B meetings are also planned. (Government portal)
