Czech private rail company Leo Express will launch a new Prague-Bratislava route from April 30, running two daily return trains. One will start and end in Petrzalka, marking the first direct link between Prague and this district on the southern bank of the Danube.
Advance tickets start at CZK 99 (EUR 4). The route will run via Prerov, Hulin, Otrokovice, Stare Mesto, Hodonin and Breclav, connecting Bratislava with Czech cities such as Olomouc and Zabreh na Morave.
At present, the Prague-Bratislava line is served by Ceske drahy and RegioJet, whose trains continue onwards to Budapest, Nove Zamky or Zilina.
Leo Express already operates trains from Prague to Ostrava and Kosice, and regional services within Slovakia between Bratislava, Dunajska Streda and Komarno.
CEO Peter Kohler said the company would serve both Bratislava’s main station and Petrzalka, “a connection no one else currently offers”. The new Talgo S6 trains will feature step-free access and tilting technology for smoother rides.
Leo Express also plans to expand its international network to Warsaw, Gdansk and Wroclaw within two years. (The Slovak Spectator)
