Lithuanian Airports said on March 23 that around 100 flight destinations to 54 countries would be available during the upcoming aviation summer season, which would begin in late March.
“Easily accessible air travel is crucial for people planning warm-season or holiday routes. Our airline partners understand travellers’ preferred destinations by analysing data,” said Simonas Bartkus, head of Lithuanian Airports. “Frequent direct flights between Lithuania and major European aviation hubs improve passengers’ ability to arrange long-haul journeys to America, Asia or Africa.”
Bartkus said flight frequencies would increase this season to key hubs including Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Helsinki and Warsaw. On average, there will be seven daily flights from Lithuania to Copenhagen, three to Frankfurt, four to Helsinki and five to Warsaw.
At Vilnius Airport, Wizz Air will launch two new routes: flights to Gdansk four times a week starting in May and to Podgorica, Montenegro, twice a week from June. The airline will also resume flights to Tirana, Albania, three times weekly, and to Reykjavik, Iceland, twice weekly.
Other airlines are also increasing frequencies from Vilnius. LOT Polish Airlines will offer more flights to Warsaw, while Scandinavian Airlines will boost service to Copenhagen. airBaltic plans more flights to Munich, Prague and Paris, while Finnair will expand service to Helsinki. Norwegian Air Shuttle will add flights to Oslo, and Lufthansa to Frankfurt.
Ryanair will increase flights from Vilnius to destinations including Frankfurt, Berlin, Athens, Treviso, Milan, Rome and London Stansted. Wizz Air will also boost frequencies to Barcelona, Dortmund, Budapest, Malaga, Billund and Larnaca, while continuing routes launched in the winter season to Krakow, Nice, Tallinn and Turku.
From Kaunas Airport, airBaltic will begin flights to Riga from late March. Ryanair and Wizz Air will operate routes to several cities in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Additional destinations from Kaunas will include Rhodes and Cyprus, as well as Italian cities such as Bari, Pisa, Pescara, Rimini, Milan and Naples, and Spanish destinations including Madrid, Malaga, Mallorca and Alicante.
At Palanga Airport, Norwegian will launch flights to Bergen and continue services to Oslo. During the summer season, airBaltic will operate flights to Riga and Amsterdam, Ryanair to London Stansted, SAS to Copenhagen, and Wizz Air to Oslo. Charter flights to Turkey and Egypt introduced last year will also continue. (LRT)
