On March 16, a meeting took place between Oleksii Sobolev, Minister of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture of Ukraine, and representatives of the German Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty SE, led by Chief Claims Officer Thomas Sepp. Among the meeting participants were Deputy Ministers Yegor Perelygin and Oleksandr Tsybort, as well as Advisor to the Minister Andrii Teliupa.
In particular, the participants discussed the prospects for Allianz Ukraine, support from international insurance companies for the development of the insurance market in Ukraine, and priority sectors and areas for investment.
“Ukraine is actively collaborating with international partners to scale up the insurance market. Supporting investments in recovery during the war and reconstruction afterward is among the Government’s priorities. “We are counting on Allianz’s leadership in the recovery of global reinsurance markets, which in turn will help increase investor confidence and attract private capital to Ukraine,” noted Oleksii Sobolev.
In particular, they discussed Allianz’s participation in insurance mechanisms supported by the EU and international financial institutions. They also discussed support for pilot insurance mechanisms for priority sectors of the economy. The Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture is exploring sector-specific insurance solutions to attract investment in energy infrastructure, construction and reconstruction projects, logistics, and strategic supply chains.
Furthermore, the Government is interested in Allianz’s experience in improving legislation to support international insurance companies, in public-private partnership models that can attract global insurance companies, and in risk-sharing mechanisms to expand insurance opportunities.
