Deputy Ministers of Energy of Ukraine Anatoliy Kutsevol and Valentina Moskalenko held a meeting with representatives of the Federal Ministries of Germany, during which the parties discussed further support for the Ukrainian energy sector, preparations for the next heating season, and priority areas of cooperation.
Representatives of the Ministry of Energy informed their German partners about the current situation in Ukraine’s energy system and the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The key task for the near future is to implement measures to increase the resilience of the energy system and prepare for the next winter.
“We must take into account the security situation and at the same time form a clear vision of the development of the energy system – from the generation structure to the role of the public and private sectors in its restoration,” said Anatoliy Kutsevol.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the coordination of international assistance, in particular within the framework of the Energy Support Fund of Ukraine, as well as the possibility of involving international companies in the implementation of energy projects in Ukraine.
Special attention was paid to the development of human capital in the energy sector, in particular the training and retraining of engineers and technical specialists to work with new technologies and modernized equipment.
“To restore and modernize the energy infrastructure, we need not only equipment, but also trained specialists. Therefore, the development of educational programs and advanced training of specialists in the energy sector is one of the important areas of our work,” emphasized Valentina Moskalenko.
In addition, the parties discussed the long-term transformation of the energy sector of Ukraine, in particular the development of distributed generation, renewable energy, the expansion of interstate electrical interconnectors, and the integration of energy markets with the European energy system.
Representatives of the German side confirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine in the energy sector, in particular in preparing for the next heating season, implementing reforms, and developing a sustainable and modern energy system. (Energy Ministry)
