Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair will discontinue one route each from Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga airports starting in April, Lithuania’s airport operator has confirmed.
From April, Ryanair will end flights from Palanga to Dublin, from Kaunas to Belfast and from Vilnius to Stockholm.
“Ryanair said it was reviewing its route network across Europe, affecting both regional and major airports,” said Vitalija Roce, spokeswoman for Lithuanian Airports.
“As Ryanair has communicated, it is carrying out a network review and reassessing flights from European airports, which affects both regional and large airports. There have been quite a few changes at various European airports,” Roce said. “However, they are increasing frequencies on other routes from Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga.”
According to Lithuanian Airports, Ryanair will increase flight frequencies from Vilnius to Athens, Berlin, Barcelona, Frankfurt, Milan, Rome, Treviso, Malta, London and Oslo.
From Kaunas, frequencies will rise to Bari, Burgas, Cologne, Copenhagen, Edinburgh, Rhodes, Rimini, Alicante, Malaga, Mallorca, Liverpool, London and Zadar. From Palanga, flights to London will increase.
Roce said Ryanair would offer more seats overall from Lithuanian airports this year compared with previous years.
Ryanair’s head of communications for Central and Eastern Europe, Alicja Wujcik-Golebiowska, declined to comment in detail, saying the airline is finalising its summer 2026 schedule, which will be announced in the coming weeks.
Lithuanian Airports noted that Dublin remains accessible via direct flights from Kaunas and Vilnius. In addition, airBaltic will launch direct flights from Kaunas to Riga during the summer season. Flights from Vilnius to Stockholm are operated by Norwegian and SAS. There will be no direct flights to Belfast from Lithuania once Ryanair ends the route.
According to Lithuanian Airports, Palanga will gain a new route to Bergen, Norway, operated by Norwegian, while Wizz Air will offer flights to Oslo.
From Vilnius, new summer routes will include Podgorica, Montenegro; Gdansk, Poland; and Chisinau, Moldova. The Zurich route will be strengthened, with both airBaltic and SWISS operating flights. Wizz Air will also launch flights to Tirana, Albania, and Reykjavik, Iceland.
Lithuanian Airports said flight frequencies from Vilnius are also increasing to Amsterdam, Munich, Berlin, Paris, Nice, Prague, Warsaw, Istanbul, Tallinn, Frankfurt, Copenhagen and Tel Aviv. (LRT)
