Switzerland is providing financial support worth over 80 million lei to strengthen integrity and transparency in the business environment of Moldova. This has become possible after, in Chisinau, the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization (MDED), along with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), signed the Agreement on the Implementation of the project, Strengthening Trust, Integrity and Compliance in and between Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and the Public Sector in Moldova (STIC).
With an overall budget of 3.92 million Swiss francs (the equivalent of over 80 million lei), the initiative will support SMEs in the agriculture and construction sectors in applying simplified mechanisms for compliance and integrity.
The project will be implemented until 2028 and its main goal is the strengthening of integrity and compliance of small and medium-sized enterprises of Moldova, contributing to the creation of a more transparent, competitive and resilient business environment.
At the same time, the document will help reduce the bureaucratic burden and improve the transparency of interaction processes between the business environment and public institutions.
MDED noted that the implementation of the project aimed to reduce corruption risks, enhance the level of trust between the public and private sectors, as well as encourage the transition of businesses from the informal economy to the formal economy.
The STIC project is implemented by GFA Consulting Group, with the support of the government of Switzerland, in partnership with national authorities. (Moldpres)
