In the event of a complete cessation of Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure, Ukraine will need about two months to return to work without power outages.
This was reported by Acting Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov in an interview with Forbes Ukraine.
“We have recently made calculations. If the attacks were to stop now, it would take two months to restore the energy system,” he said.
According to Nekrasov, in the three months of autumn, 8,000 MW of generation was damaged by the Russians. As of December, about half of this capacity had been restored, but the attacks do not stop.
“Russia is attacking not only power plants, but also power grids, substations and gas production infrastructure. As of December 26, there were nine massive strikes, every 10-15 days,” says the acting minister.
Thus, as of the end of December, more than 2,000 strikes on power grids and about 440 strikes on energy facilities were recorded. The Russians knock out an average of 60 transformers per month. (Minprom)
