Russians are increasingly assessing their financial situation negatively and are becoming more pessimistic about the future of their personal finances, according to a survey by the “Public Opinion” Foundation (FOM).
At the end of November, the share of citizens who complain about a worsening financial situation reached 25% – the maximum since 2022. Compared to September, the number of such responses increased by 5 percentage points, and now those whose financial situation has worsened are three times more than those who reported an improvement (8% in November).
The difference between those who feel they have become poorer and richer (17%) also set a record since 2022.
People’s expectations are also worsening: in September, twice as many respondents expected an improvement in their financial situation in the next year than a worsening: 28% and 14% (37% did not expect any changes, the rest could not answer). In the latest survey, the figures were 25% and 19%, respectively. At the same time, the share of those who expect a worsening financial situation has reached its maximum in 9 years (The Moscow Times).
