The Government has passed a decision aimed at curbing the rise in electricity transmission tariffs, which are a significant component of the cost of electricity for the consumers. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced during the session.
“We have changed the mechanism by which Ukrenergo can purchase electricity to cover technological losses. Now the operator will be free to purchase it not only where prices change quickly and significantly, but also at special auctions – at more predictable and often lower prices,” Yulia Svyrydenko said.
The Head of Government explained what this means for consumers, including industrial consumers: “Slower growth in electricity transmission tariffs, more predictable costs for export-oriented enterprises that create jobs.” (Government portal)
