The Government has instructed a comprehensive audit of all the largest state-owned enterprises, particularly in the energy and defence industries. Special attention is to be paid to the transparency of procurement and financial controls. This was announced by Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko following the Cabinet meeting.
“The supervisory boards of Naftogaz, Ukroboronprom, Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukrhydroenergo, and state-owned banks must, within their powers, analyse the activities of the companies’ executive bodies. In the event of violations being identified, additional measures must be taken to strengthen controls and inform the Government. They must also ensure proper and immediate response to notifications from law enforcement agencies regarding offences involving officials of these joint-stock companies,” stressed the Prime Minister.
She also noted that the State Audit Service would conduct state financial control of major enterprises in the public sector, specifically with regard to the efficient use of budget funds and the reliability of financial reporting. (Government portal)
