During his working visit to Latvia, Minister of Defence of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal held talks with Latvian Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braze and Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mierina.
Discussions focused on the importance of reinforcing air defence capabilities. The Ukrainian minister shared Ukraine’s experience in establishing a multi-layered air defence system and confirmed readiness to deepen cooperation and share expertise with the Latvian National Armed Forces.
“I am once again reassured of the unwavering commitment of our friends. Latvia stands as a leader and active participant in all initiatives supporting Ukraine. I extend my gratitude to Latvia for standing shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine,” stated Denys Shmyhal.
The discussions with Minister Baiba Braze and Speaker Daiga Mierina focused on the protection of critical infrastructure, economic support, sanctions pressure, and the confiscation of russian assets.
The meetings also addressed joint defence projects, including those implemented within the framework of SAFE.
“We are advancing efforts to supply Ukraine with the weapons it needs,” concluded the Minister of Defence of Ukraine. (Government portal)
