Lithuania’s airports will offer more than 80 flight routes during the upcoming aviation winter season, including a new connection from Vilnius to the Finnish city of Turku, officials have announced.
Hungarian carrier Wizz Air will begin operating flights from Vilnius to Turku on December 12, while flydubai will launch thrice-weekly flights from Vilnius to Dubai starting from October 27, Lithuanian Airports has said in a statement.
Wizz Air will also add a new route from Palanga to Oslo beginning December 10, operating twice a week.
Compared with last winter, flight frequencies from Vilnius to Amsterdam, Helsinki, Riga, and Warsaw will increase. During the season, Lithuanian airports will be connected to eight destinations in Germany and three in the Netherlands, with additional flights to Brussels and Vienna.
Routes to Italy, Spain, Cyprus, and Malta are also planned. Lithuania will have seven routes to Italy and six to Spain, while charter flights from Vilnius will continue to Egypt, Turkey, and Spain’s Tenerife.
Kaunas Airport will maintain regular flights to the United Kingdom – including Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Liverpool, and London – as well as to Dublin and Shannon in Ireland.
From Palanga, travellers will be able to fly directly to London, Dublin, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen. Flights to Copenhagen and Riga will be the most frequent from the seaside airport this winter.
A total of 14 airlines will operate scheduled flights to and from Lithuania this winter season, including 10 traditional and four low-cost carriers, Lithuanian Airports has said. (LRT)
