Potential avenues for expanding bilateral partnerships, particularly in reconstruction, investment, and agriculture, were discussed during a meeting between Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Oleksii Sobolev and Turkiye’s Ambassador to Ukraine Mustafa Levent Bilgen.
“We are keen to see more Turkish businesses operating in Ukraine. Turkish companies are already involved in over 100 reconstruction projects, including construction and infrastructure. Our goal is to attract further investment and expand cooperation in key sectors such as the defence industry and housing for internally displaced persons,” said minister Oleksii Sobolev.
The minister emphasised that the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Turkiye was vital for bilateral relations, creating new opportunities for trade, investment and economic partnership. The draft law on ratifying this agreement is currently under consideration by Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada.
The meeting also covered enhanced cooperation, including government-to-government (G2G) agreements. Future collaboration areas include agriculture, demining, environmental initiatives and investment.
Key topics discussed included:
– Priorities of the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture in investment policy;
– Support for the agricultural sector;
– Engaging Turkish companies in reconstruction, leveraging Turkiye’s 2023 post-earthquake housing recovery experience;
– Other issues related to the operations of specific Turkish companies in Ukraine.
The parties agreed to further develop comprehensive cooperation. (Government portal)
