Almost a quarter of Bulgaria’s economy is in the shadow sector – about 23-24%.
“On the other hand, there is not enough money for pension benefits, for young people, but for paying the second year of maternity leave for young mothers. Well, how could there be enough funds when a significant part of the business continues to cheat and infringe on the budget?” asked the Minister of Labor and Social Policy Borislav Gutsanov, who joined the inspection conducted by the Main Labor Inspectorate in the Black Sea resort of Sunny Beach.
According to Minister Gutsanov, during the inspections conducted throughout the country, 2,300 cases of appointment to work without signing an employment contract have been identified since the beginning of the year. About 500 of them are registered in the hotel and catering industry. Gutsanov recalled that the contracts were mandatory and guaranteed the observance of workers’ rights. (Novinite)
