Over UAH 1 billion in subventions and grants has been allocated for the construction of school shelters in Dnipropetrovsk region. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal during a working visit to the region on June 12.
The Head of Government inspected the construction of a shelter at one of the region’s educational institutions. The dual-purpose protective structure, designed to accommodate 300 people, is funded through a state budget subvention. The facility is currently more than halfway complete, with plans to finish it before the start of the school year.
“The safety of our children, particularly a safe and modern educational environment, is a priority for the Government,” Denys Shmyhal stressed.
He also noted that state funds were being used to purchase modern technology and equipment for educational institutions as part of the “New Ukrainian School” reform.
“Teachers in the region, like all teachers in Ukraine, receive additional payments – UAH 1,000 net. From September 1, these payments will increase to UAH 2,000. For this purpose, a subvention of over UAH 320 million has been allocated to the region,” the Prime Minister stated.
Additionally, he said that nearly UAH 118 million would be directed to regional communities for the purchase of school buses, while approximately UAH 225 million had been allocated for free meals for primary school students and the modernisation of school canteens.
“All of this is to ensure that children in Ukraine can study in a comfortable and safe environment and have every opportunity to realise their potential,” Denys Shmyhal emphasised. (Government portal)
