Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal met with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham (Republican Party) and Richard Blumenthal (Democratic Party).
The Head of Government of Ukraine noted that continued bipartisan support of the United States was crucial for Ukraine in the future. He also thanked the Senate for voting for the initiatives that were essential for Ukraine.
The Prime Minister voiced the need to strengthen air defence.
“The first F-16 aircraft are already in Ukraine, and the U.S. assistance in training Ukrainian pilots is extremely valuable,” said Denys Shmyhal.
The Head of the Ukrainian Government also informed the Senators about the priorities of the state, in particular, the implementation of reforms. He thanked the United States for its aid in restoring the Ukrainian energy sector.
“The main challenges today are preparations for the heating season. We are rebuilding what has been destroyed and decentralising our energy system to make it less vulnerable to russian attacks,” the Prime Minister stressed.
The parties paid special attention to frozen russian assets. Denys Shmyhal stressed that it was important to confiscate them in full and use the funds for Ukraine’s urgent needs and our reconstruction. He also called on American businesses to invest in priority sectors that would contribute to the long-term recovery and growth of the Ukrainian economy.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister conveyed his gratitude to the government and people of the United States for the unprecedented level of support for Ukraine in the fight for our freedom and independence. (Government portal)
