Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has received a consignment of IT equipment to be distributed to the Territorial Social Assistance Agencies and Structures (ATAS and STAS). The equipment is donated by UNICEF Moldova, with the financial support of the British Government.
The donation includes 1,347 computers and 579 laptops worth $1.410 million. Thus, every social care worker in the country will benefit from the IT equipment necessary for the proper conduct of their work. Community social workers and child rights protection specialists will be able to digitise services and work processes, thus providing greater accessibility for recipients of social services and benefits.
“It is very complicated to provide effective intervention if you don’t have access to powerful information technology. That’s why we will provide over 1500 pieces of high-performance IT equipment for all our frontline colleagues, social workers, child rights protection specialists. Our partners at UNICEF have always supported us in this endeavour. They are the most important partners in the development and implementation of the Restart reform and I would like to thank them very much”, Minister of Labour and Social Protection Alexei Buzu said.
The Restart reform is aimed to improve governance and transparency in the social assistance system and to ensure uniform and equitable access to quality social services for the vulnerable population.
“UNICEF is committed to strengthening the social protection system through technical assistance, capacity building initiatives for social workers and the provision of essential IT equipment. These efforts aim to empower frontline workers, who play a critical role in addressing the acute needs of vulnerable groups. This support will substantially strengthen the child protection system, allowing us to deliver better quality services faster to children and families in need, including refugees,” said Maha Damaj, UNICEF Moldova Country Representative.
The computers will be used by child rights protection specialists to implement case management and to manage and monitor data on children from vulnerable families. (Moldpres)
