462 Ukrainians have been recognised as winners of the third wave of the Own Business grant programme in 2024 and will receive UAH 111 million from the state to start or expand their businesses. Since the programme’s launch, more than 14,600 Ukrainians have become winners, with the state investing UAH 3.5 billion in their businesses. This was announced by Yuliia Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine and Minister of Economy.
“Since the launch of the Own Business grant programme, we have already had 14,600 grantees who will create more than 30,000 jobs in all regions of the country by running their business projects. Through microgrants, the state has invested a total of UAH 3.5 billion in entrepreneurship development. These are thousands of companies that manufacture products, provide services and pay taxes to the budget. Grant recipients have already returned more than UAH 1 billion to the state in the form of taxes and fees paid,” said Yuliia Svyrydenko.
Among the recipients of the third wave of microgrants, 51% are women, 39% are men and 10% are legal entities. More than 70% of them have higher education. The majority of grantees are from Lviv region (62 people), Kyiv region (40 people), Sumy region (35 people), Rivne region (29 people) and the city of Kyiv (49 people). The vast majority of grantees plan to use the microgrant funds to purchase equipment necessary for running their business.
The most popular sectors in which the winners of the third wave will work are: wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles – 167 grantees, temporary accommodation and catering – 79 grantees and processing industry – 56 grantees. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
