The team of the Ministry for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine led by Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine Natalka Cmoc to discuss the main priorities for the restoration and development of Ukraine’s transport sector and attracting private capital.
“We already have a successful experience of cooperation, in particular within the framework of the Support to Ukraine’s Reforms for Governance (SURGe) project funded by the Government of Canada. Together with experts, we formulate and implement state policy on recovery, regional development and decentralisation. At the same time, the transport sector remains one of the most attractive investment areas despite the war, and we are focusing on increasing the export capacity of land and waterways, both in the long and short term. In addition, a special Business Advisory Group was created and is now operating at the initiative of the Ministry to facilitate coordination between international and Ukrainian businesses and government agencies. I am grateful to Canadian Ambassador Natalka Cmoc for her leadership and cooperation,” commented Oleksandr Kubrakov, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine and Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development.
Today, Canada is considering the following areas for investment in the transport sector: rail transport, including multimodal transport; modernisation of Ukrainian Black Sea ports; development of land border crossings; assistance in the rapid restoration of civil aviation; shipbuilding.
