The Ministry of Energy has prepared Guidelines and recommendations for attracting sustainable financing needed to rebuild and develop Ukraine’s energy sector.
The elaborated document was presented to more than 60 representatives of the largest energy companies during an online event organised by the Ministry of Energy jointly with the Reform Support Office of the Ministry of Energy and with the participation of KPMG Ukraine.
The document outlines the key principles, types and instruments of financing, a taxonomy of economic activities to check projects for their sustainability, and contains a set of requirements and recommendations from leading IFIs, development agencies and foundations for allocating sustainable financing needed to rebuild Ukraine’s energy sector.
“The development of this document is yet another proof that Ukraine is committed to the idea of green recovery. The key to its implementation is to attract green financing,” said Deputy Energy Minister Svitlana Hrynchuk.
During the discussion of the document, the issues of project verification, the possibility of allocating funding for projects in the nuclear industry and grid restoration were raised.
Dmytro Romanovych, Director of ESG at KPMG Ukraine, and Yuriy Katser, Director of Legal Department at the company, spoke in detail about the implementation of the green taxonomy in the energy sector of Ukraine.
The document will be available for public discussion after it has been reviewed and approved by market participants. (Government portal/Business World Magazine)
