China has become the third trade partner of the Republic of Moldova, after Romania and Ukraine, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Moldova Yan Wenbin has said.
According to the official, the trade between China and Moldova started practically from scratch, and now it had developed on a considerable scale.
“According to the statistics of the Moldovan side, last year, the trade between China and Moldova reached $957 million, and in the first half of this year it reached $463 million, up by 11.88% YoY,” Yan Wenbin said.
The ambassador said that the popularity of Moldovan products on the Chinese market was continuously increasing.
“The Moldovan wine’s popularity and reputation on the Chinese market are constantly growing. Through the efforts of our Embassy, the Chinese customs authorities have simplified the verification and approval procedures for the import of grape and sunflower seed meal from Moldova. The two parties are about to officially sign the relevant documents,” Yan Wenbin said.
The official also noted that the Chinese Embassy had jointly established with the Moldovan authorities a permanent coordination mechanism and would continue to actively promote access to the Chinese market for Moldovan products such as: grape seeds, apples, table grapes, cherries, plums and baby food.
